A $20 tee at 30% keeps you $2.50
The $20 base is Redbubble's own example for its Classic T-Shirt, loaded because we don't sell there. At a 30% markup the buyer pays $26 and the markup is $6, which Redbubble calls the margin. You're never billed for the blank or the shipping, the base covers both. On a Standard account two fees come out of the markup and $2.50 is what's left.
The second fee past 20%
Markup up to 20% pays only the account fee, half the markup on Standard. Past 20% Redbubble also takes half of what the markup earns above that line, and the account fee comes off what's left after it. Pro pays neither fee, Premium pays the markup fee and a 20% account fee, and the table runs the $20 tee at 30% through all three.
| Standard | Premium | Pro | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buyer pays | $26.00 | $26.00 | $26.00 |
| Fees | $3.50 | $2.00 | $0.00 |
| You keep | $2.50 | $4.00 | $6.00 |
| Your share | 9.6% | 15.4% | 23.1% |
The fee order and the monthly cap
The markup fee is worked at the sale and the account fee on the month's earnings, and Redbubble's fee page leaves open which comes off one sale first. The numbers here take the markup fee first and the account fee on what's left. That keeps a little more than charging both fees on the full markup would, 50 cents more on the $20 tee at 30%. On Printful the blank is billed to you when the shirt sells and the platform's fees come off the full price, and the Etsy calculator works that side of it. The cap is the other thing to know: Redbubble stops charging account fees once they reach $150 in a month, so in a big month on Standard the sales after that point keep more than this one does.
