What fees does Etsy charge per sale?
Three fees hit every order. A transaction fee of 6.5% on the item price plus the shipping you charge. A payment processing fee, 3% plus $0.25 per order for US sellers. A $0.20 listing fee, charged when you list and again each time the listing renews after a sale. Those are the defaults loaded above. Etsy changes fees and processing rates differ by country, so check your current fee schedule and edit the boxes if yours differ.
What about Etsy Offsite Ads?
If a sale comes from an Offsite Ad, Etsy takes an extra cut of the order total. It is a percentage in the low teens and depends on your shop's trailing revenue. It is not included by default because it only applies to some orders. To model it, put the dollar amount of that fee in the ad spend box, or add the percentage to the transaction fee box to see the worst case.
Worked example
You sell a shirt for $24.99 with free shipping. Your supplier charges $12.95 for the shirt and $4.69 to ship it. Etsy takes $1.62 in transaction fee, $1.00 in payment processing, and $0.20 for the listing. You keep about $4.53, an 18% margin. To reach 30% you need to charge about $29.90, or get your supplier cost down. Change the numbers above to see your own case.
Does this calculator work for Shopify too?
